- Divide the class into teams, and make sure each team has an equal number of students.
- Prepare a list of action verbs (e.g., run, jump, read, eat, dance, sing, write, sleep, swim, etc.).
- Choose one student from each team to be the “actor” for the round.
- The actor from each team will come to the front of the class, and without speaking or using any props, they will act out the action verb they have been given. The other students in their team must guess the verb.
- Set a time limit for each round (e.g., 1-2 minutes), and the team that correctly guesses the most verbs within the time limit wins that round.
- Rotate the actors, so each student gets a chance to participate.
- You can keep track of points for each team, and the team with the most points at the end of the game is the winner.
This activity not only encourages teamwork and communication but also helps students practice using action verbs in an interactive and engaging way. It’s a fun and lively way to reinforce vocabulary and language skills in the classroom.
