Introducing yourself

You can greet people by saying “Hello!” or “Hi!” Introduce yourself using “I am.” You may also need to spell out the letters of your name.

When you want to tell someone about yourself, or about people and things that relate to you, use the present simple form of “to be.”

  • My name is [your name].
Pronunciation: mah neym iz [your name]
  • I’m [your name].
    Pronunciation: aym [your name]
  • Let me introduce myself. I’m [your name].
Pronunciation: lɛt mi ˌɪntrəˈdus maɪˈsɛlf. aym [your name]

Remember to replace “[your name]” with your actual name when pronouncing these phrases. Focus on enunciating each word clearly and practice speaking them aloud to improve your pronunciation.

Point to yourself and say your name, then point to the next student to introduce themselves.
